Play is the work of children

Maria Montessori, one of the last century’s most brilliant educators, said that “play is the work of children.” I often quote her when speaking to groups of parents and teachers, and then add, “and young children are 100% employed, all the time.”

A Word from Raffi (Children’s singer, entertainer and advocate)

Nile Orphan Care runs the Inter-Ethnic Academy a school named after our mission to bring the 64 tribes of South Sudan together to learn and to play together. The quote on the left by Raffi is a good reminder that God gave us play as a job. As you head into the Christmas season, look for people with whom you may be hesitant to engage. Take the moment to love as you have been loved by God. Play a board game, laugh or even jump rope and remember that we are all God’s children.
